Morgan & Daniel

Morgan and Daniel travel up from Florida to the Blue Ridge Mountains every year during fall for a little getaway. However, this time it looked a little different because they had their one year old son with them. That is why they decided to document this chapter in their lives while they were in North Carolina.

I absolutely loved capturing them while they adventured around, unbothered by the wind and the cold breeze. They even brought their doggo along! And if you’re thinking “how did they handle a dog AND a small child”, well then you clearly don’t know Morgan & Daniel. They handled their beautiful dog and their son with such ease and compassion. They never once got frazzled or frustrated, and I think that truly shows in their photos.

Rough Ridge Overlook

Rough Ridge overlook is an AMAZING location for photos! Whether that be an engagement, maternity, elopement, or a family shoot, like Morgan & Daniel. This spot is iconic because you get amazing views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and you can even see the Lin Cove Viaduct from the top, it’s truly incredible especially during fall.

However, Rough Ridge Overlook is right off the Blue Ridge Parkway so you can imagine, it gets pretty busy! It’s best to arrive early so that you can make sure to grab a good parking spot. The Rough Ridge hiking trail is not labeled very well so you have to make sure to go up the trail counter-clockwise. This will get you to the iconic views.

The way the steps and bridges were built into the landscape at Rough Ridge is truly remarkable. It makes for an incredible backdrop for those jaw-dropping photos!
